神戸市やビーエルオートテック社より依頼があり、神戸を象徴する「かわいい」ロボットのデザイン開発を中川研究室で行った。骨格は3頭身プロポーションを採用し、外観イメージは幼児っぽいかわいらしさを追求した。
ロボットデザインで大事なのは動いたときに美しく見せることである。さらに、人との心地よいコミュニケーションを創造することも大事だ。ロボットデザインの開発を進める中で、まるでロボットに心が宿ったかのように開発者自身がロボットに感情移入した。情動あるロボットのデザイン=人と機械の新しい関係性のデザインである。これこそ21世紀のインダストリアルデザインと考える。

A "cute" robot that symbolizes the city of Kobe was designed by the members of Nakagawa Laboratory upon request by the City of Kobe and B.L.Autotec,Ltd. The propotion of its body was designed to resemble a toddler with a large head. The outer shell was designed to look childish and cute.
The important part of robot design is to make its motion look beautiful.
It is also important to design a robot to enable people communicate comfortably with it. Through the process of robot design, the designers began to feel as if the robot was alive and emotional. Designing an emotional robot is to design a new relationship between man and machine. Which I believe is the essence of 21st century industrial design.
神戸・三宮中央通りのまちづくり
-「三宮中央通りのデザイン」とモニュメント「出会いの門」・「バンブーボールプロジェクト」-

本稿は、2000年度より齊木研究室が継続的に携わってきた、神戸「三宮中央通り」のまちづくりの一環として行っている、「三宮中央通り」のデザイン、モニュメント「出会いの門」のデザイン、「バンブープロジェクト」のワークショップの報告である。
神戸市中央区三宮町にある「三宮中央通り(旧・三宮裏線)」は、神戸市の商業地区道路では初めての「住民参加型」によるまちづくりであり、齊木はコーディネーターとして、ワークショップ形式の話し合いでの意見調整を行ってきた。2001年7月の三宮中央通りの開通後、引続き、通りのモニュメント「出会いの門」のデザインを行い、2003年4月に完成。さらに2年後の2005年4月には、モニュメント前の広場で直径約5mの竹製の球体を制作し、モニュメントの上に載せる、「バンブーボールプロジェクト」が、神戸芸術工科大学の企画・サポートにより、開催された。
「三宮中央通りのデザイン」の一環として行われた、住民参加による「まちづくり検討会(ワークショップ)」は計8回開催され、最終的に7項目の整備計画の基本方針をまとめることができた。また、「住民参加型」でまちづくりが行われた結果、住民のまちづくりへの自主性を促し、まちの維持と、環境の質を向上させる「まちづくり協定」と、その協定を見守る主体「まちづくり協議会」の設立へと導くことができた。
モニュメント「出会いの門」は、三宮中央通りの歴史的な特性である「出会い」と、混沌とした現代への提言である「反転(Inversion)」をコンセプトとしてデザインされた。また、素材にガボン国産の樹木「ブビンガ」を用いることにより、神戸市とガボン国の新たな国際交流の契機を準備することができた。
「バンブーボールプロジェクト」は「『出会いの門』に新たな命を吹き込む」「国際交流と世界平和」というコンセプトをもって開催された。

This paper is the report of Urban Design of Sannomiya Chuo Dori, Design of Monument "The Gate of Encounters" and Workshop of Bamboo Ball Project that Takahito Saiki Office has been continuously engaged from the year 2000 as part of Community Development of Sannomiya Chuo Dori in Kobe.
Sannomiya Chuo Dori (former Sannomiya Urasen)
is the first example of "community-oriented town planning" of the business district road of Kobe City, and Saiki had performed the opinion adjustment as a coordinator in the workshop style meeting.
After opening of Sannomiya Chuo Dori in July, 2001, succeedingly, the monument "The Gate of
Encounters" was designed and completed in April, 2003. Furthermore, the bamboo sphere with a diameter of about 5m was made in the open space in front of the monument, and the "Bamboo Ball Project" was held by a plan and support of Kobe Design University in April, 2005.
The community-oriented town meeting (workshop) as part of Urban Design of Sannomiya Chuo Dori was held a total of 8 times, and, finally was able to summarize the statement of principles of the maintenance plan of seven items. Moreover, as a result of the community-oriented town meeting, the residents' independency to the town management could be urged, and it was able to lead to the establishment of "Town Planning Agreement" for the purpose of the raise of the environmental quality, and "Town Planning Conference" which manages the agreement.
"The Gate of Encounters" was designed considering "encounter" which is the historical characteristic of the locality of Sannomiya Chuo Dori, and "Inversion" which is a proposal to the confused present age, as the concepts. Moreover, by using the tree from Gabon named "BUBINGA" for a material, the opportunity of the new international exchange of Kobe City and the Gabon country could be prepared.
"Bamboo Ball Project" was held with a concept called "a new life is given into the monument", and "international exchange and world peace."
